Most household and construction debris is accepted, but certain items are banned by Texas landfills or require special handling.
Generally accepted
Furniture, household junk, clothing, carpet, drywall, lumber, cabinets, roofing shingles, yard waste, flooring and most appliances without refrigerant.
Not accepted
Paint and solvents, motor oil, batteries, tires, propane tanks, asbestos, medical waste, pesticides and anything flammable or explosive.
Special handling items
Refrigerators and AC units must have refrigerant removed by a certified technician. Mattresses and tires may carry additional fees.
Where to take hazardous waste
Bexar County and the City of San Antonio run household hazardous waste drop-off centers for residents. Check current hours before you go.
